Discuss Favorable subgingival plaque microbiome shifts are associated with clinical treatment for peri-implant diseases
This study is a longitudinal study that analysed the subgingival plaque microbiome associated with patients with implants that developed mucositis and peri-implantitis.
Diseased subject (mucositis and peri-implantitis) underwent surgical and non-surgical treatments.
The results showed that effective clinical intervention can increase microbiome markers in healthy patients and reduce microbiome markers of peri-implantitis.
The healthy microbiome composition increased over the six month of exposure to treatment in patients with mucositis and peri-implantitis (figure 2a), while the peri-implantitis microbiome composition reduced in patients with mucositis and peri-implantitis (figure 2c).
