Jacob A. de Jesus Candelario is an undergraduate student pursuing a major in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Puerto Rico in Ponce. His academic journey has been significantly shaped by his intersection of community service and research experiences, influencing his decision to pursue a dual degree in medicine and research. Among these experiences is his participation in the National Summer Undergraduate Research Project (NSURP) 2024 Cohort, during which he served as a research mentee under Dr. Svetlana Ugarcina Perovic, contributing to the BugSigDB Community. Jacob aims to enhance his future career as a physician-scientist by engaging in projects that contribute to his personal, professional, and academic development.
